energy intensity란 GDP에서 에너지가 차지하는 비중을 의미합니다. GDP 1,000달러 생산을 위해 투입되는 에너지의 양입니다. 경제 성장을 위해 투입되는 에너지 양이 적으면 적을수록 국가 발전에 긍정적 효과를 미치는데요.

선진국은 에너지 집약도가 감소하고 있습니다. 에너지효율 증대, 생산량 증가, 에너지 기술 혁신 등의 영향으로 에너지 집약도가 줄어드는 것입니다.

This is my favorite chart of big changes how the U.S. grows now with less and less power, so called, energy intensity.

It measures the energy it takes to increase growth.

Falling almost 5% last year. The most since in 1983 when prices were last very high.

Add it up, the U.S. oil petroleum deficit about $13 billion, smaller than it was in 2005.

Fewer billions going overseas and could mean a shakeup in global alliances and the global flow of not just oil but cash.
